Widuf Terms of Use
Version 3.2 · effective from [EFFECTIVE DATE]
These terms are the agreement between you and [COMPANY NAME] (Chilean tax ID (RUT) [TAX ID], address [ADDRESS], Chile), which provides Widuf. By creating your account you accept them. Read them together with the Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data and your children's data. If you are a student and your parent invited you, your rules are in the Student Terms.
These terms are available in Spanish and English. Both versions have the same value; if they differ, the one more favourable to you applies.
1. What Widuf is
An app for parents and guardians that brings together your child's class: the timetable, the test calendar, grades, events and class lists (collections and "Who brings what?"). You can create a class or join an existing one, load the timetable and calendar with a photo, keep track of your children's grades, typing them yourself or uploading a photo of the test so an AI suggests the grade, and get notices when something in the class changes and reminders of upcoming assessments. The class's parents can share an assessment's syllabus and the reading list. In classes in Chile, from 5th grade (5° básico), you can invite your child to their own student account (section 4 bis).
Widuf does not belong to the school or to the education authority of any country, and does not replace their official channels. What is in a class is entered by the parents themselves: if something does not match what the school says, the school's information prevails.
Where it is offered. Widuf is offered only in the countries you can choose when signing up. You may not use it from a place subject to comprehensive sanctions or give a country that is not yours to use it where it is not offered; if you do, we may close your account.
2. Price and allowances
Widuf has a free base for parents. The timetable and the assessment calendar (including reading them from a photo with AI), assessments, grades, each child's photo folder during the school year, lists and collections, notices, assessment reminders, the syllabus, the reading list and the student account are free, and no feature of the base asks you to pay. There are no third-party ads. Uploading and saving a test with its grade is never charged. The only thing you pay for is Widuf Plus, which is optional and bought inside the app.
AI analyses. AI analysis of tests and study guides are part of Widuf Plus. Without Plus there are no AI analyses each month: you can only use the ones Widuf gives you as a gift, under their rules (below). Reading a test with AI or requesting a study guide uses one analysis, only if it worked; reading the timetable or the assessment calendar with AI is free, does not use an analysis and has its own upload limit. With a plan, each covered child adds analyses to a pool that renews with each monthly renewal of the subscription and, when a child is added, immediately adds that child's share.
The current figures (plan analyses per covered child, photos per analysis, uploads per day and of the same test per week and per month, children per account and how long photos are kept) are published in the app (Profile → AI analyses) and on the Widuf website, with the date from which they apply and any changes already announced. They are part of these terms. The app shows how many analyses you have left and when they expire or renew, warns you before using one and when you reach the limit.
Not having analyses never stops you from uploading a test. If you have no analyses, your photos and grade are saved and the analysis waits until you have one (with Plus, when your plan's pool renews or with a gift); meanwhile you can type the grade yourself. If the current figures say so, the gift analysis is queued and arrives by the day after the upload at the latest; an analysis already queued is done even if the gift runs out or a cost limit kicks in meanwhile, and it is not sent if you first withdraw your AI permission, delete the test or delete your account. The photo does not go to the AI until it is analysed.
Gift analyses are "up to" what was given. For the service to be sustainable there is a cost limit per account (a test with many photos costs more) and one for the monthly total: if one kicks in, gift analysis stops until your account's monthly cycle renews (on the day of the month you created it; your account's limit) or until the 1st of the next month (the total), and the app tells you the date; what you upload is still saved. These limits never leave you below what you bought with Plus. Gift months of Plus, Widuf gifts and monthly rewards are promotions: they are given while the monthly gift budget lasts and, if one could not be given, the app tells you.
Widuf gifts and rewards. Widuf may give AI analyses as a gift to groups of accounts (by country, school or class, with objective criteria) and give monthly rewards for what you do in the app, with rules published in Profile → AI analyses that say from and until when they apply. Never for grades or your children's data, never for rating the app, and no prize draws. Each gift or reward:
- is credited to your account before we tell you, and is in the Widuf inbox in the app with its conditions even if your notices are off;
- says what it gives (in AI analyses), why you got it and until what date it is valid; whatever expires first is used first, counting that your plan's pool expires when it renews;
- does not require paying, subscribing or turning anything on to receive it, cannot be exchanged for money or transferred, and is lost if you delete your account.
You can opt out of gifts and rewards in Profile → "Widuf gifts and rewards", without losing what you already received. Student accounts do not receive gifts or rewards.
What your child uses with AI from their student account is deducted from the plan that covers them or, if none, from the gift analyses of the parent who invited them; never from an allowance of their own, and your child is never shown the plan.
Widuf Plus. Plus is optional and bought only inside the app: on iPhone with Apple's in-app purchase (App Store) and on Android with Google Play. It is a monthly subscription per family (one per paying account), in four options depending on how many children it covers (1, 2, 3 or 4), that gives those children more AI analyses. The Widuf website explains what it includes, but does not sell it.
- Before you pay the app shows the total monthly price of the option you choose, in your store's currency and with the taxes it includes (the same the store charges), what it includes (its limits), which children it covers and whether any already has a plan, that it renews automatically every month and is charged to your Apple or Google account until you cancel it, how to cancel, what happens with the right of withdrawal in your country and how refunds are requested, how many days Plus continues if a charge fails, and who provides the service. You can save or share those terms; when you subscribe we email them to your account address and they stay in the app (Profile → Your plan).
- Who charges. Apple or Google charges on behalf of [COMPANY NAME], which provides the service. Widuf verifies and records each purchase with RevenueCat, which does so on our behalf. Widuf does not see or store your card details or your Apple or Google account (Privacy Policy, section 6).
- What you subscribed to is kept. The price and limits you subscribed to apply while the subscription continues (or the current ones, if better), and no cost limit puts you below them. Plus prices may change with notice: a new price is announced in the app and on the Widuf website at least 30 days in advance and applies to those who subscribe from that date. We never raise the price for existing subscribers: in the store we keep the price for current subscribers and do not use Apple's or Google's price-increase notices. If the price goes down, you get it from your next renewal.
- Adding or removing children. You add children (move to a larger option) yourself, with the store's confirmation, and the child is covered immediately. On iPhone, Apple charges the new option from that day and refunds the unused part of the previous one, and your renewal date becomes that day; on Android, Google charges the difference for the remaining days and your renewal date does not change. Moving to a smaller option applies from your next renewal; until then your children stay covered. If your option has free slots, you can cover another child at no extra cost.
- Cancelling. Cancel whenever you want in your Apple ID settings (iPhone) or in Google Play → Subscriptions (Android); in the app, "Manage subscription" takes you there. There are no more charges or anything pending, and Plus continues until the end of the paid period.
- Withdrawal and refunds. If you live in Chile, Plus starts being provided as soon as you subscribe, so it does not carry the right of withdrawal of article 3 bis of Law No. 19,496; we tell you before you pay. If you live in another country and its law gives you a right of withdrawal or cancellation, Widuf does not limit it: you exercise it by requesting a refund from the store and, on Android, also by writing to us. Refunds are decided by the store under its rules: on iPhone you request them from Apple; on Android, from Google or by writing to us, and we can refund through Google Play. If the store refunds a charge, Plus for that period ends. This does not limit your rights if Plus was not provided as offered (section 9).
- If a charge fails, the store retries it: Plus continues for the grace days the app tells you when you subscribe; then it is paused while the store retries and comes back if the charge succeeds; if not, the subscription ends. You never owe Widuf anything.
- If we stop offering Plus, we tell you at least 30 days in advance, stop renewing subscriptions and there are no more charges; the paid period is honoured.
Plans cover children, not accounts. Plus covers the children chosen by whoever pays for it, as many as the option allows, until the end of the paid period, even if the payer stops being linked or deletes their account. If the payer stops being linked to a child, that child leaves the subscription at the end of the paid period; the slot becomes free for another of their children, and the app tells them they can cover another or move to a smaller option in the store (Widuf cannot change the price of an Apple or Google subscription). Any parent linked to a covered child uses the plan for that child, and so does the child's student account. The plan's analyses are a pool shared among the covered children that renews with each monthly renewal (when a child is added, the pool immediately adds that child's share): the payer uses all of it; another parent, only for the child they share and up to that child's share. A child is in only one subscription at a time: if they already have a plan, the app says so without saying who pays, and another parent can subscribe them when that plan ends. No parent sees who paid for the plan, how much, how or whether it renews: only that the child has a plan and until when. A child without a plan uses the gift analyses of their parent's account, if any.
The photo folder. Without a plan, each child's test photos are kept until the last day of the month after the end of the class's school year in its country (in Chile, the following 31 January); with a plan that covers the child and "Keep the folder" turned on, while the plan is active and the account of any of their parents exists (when the plan expires, photos from previous years, 60 more days). Never "forever". The Privacy Policy (section 9) explains the periods and the notices before deletion. With or without a plan, you can download each child's full folder (their photos and a spreadsheet with their grades) for free whenever you want.
Changes to the figures. The figures may change. If one goes down to your detriment (fewer Plus analyses for those who subscribe from then on, fewer photos, uploads or children, more credits per analysis, analysis moving to a queue, less time keeping the folder, or something free becoming paid), we announce it in the app and on the Widuf website at least 30 days in advance, with the new figure and the date. No change is retroactive: what we already gave you (gift months of Plus, a gift or reward already credited, until its date, or a plan's paid period) is honoured. If you do not agree, you can delete your account at any time.
3. Your account
- The parent account is for people of legal age under the law of their country, at least 18 years old, who are parents, legal guardians or have custody of the children whose data they enter.
- When signing up you choose your country: it must be the country where you live. It is used to apply the law that applies to you, the grading scale and the school year. If you move to another country, correct it in Profile.
- The data you provide must be true. Look after your password: whatever is done with your account is understood to be done by you, unless you tell us someone else got in.
- You can sign in with email and password or, on iPhone, with Apple.
- You can delete your account whenever you want from the app, in Profile → Delete account, or at widuf.com/en/delete-account. The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted and when.
If you pay for Widuf Plus: on Android, when you delete your account we cancel the renewal on Google Play and there are no more charges; on iPhone we cannot cancel an Apple subscription, so the app warns you first and takes you to "Manage subscription" so you can cancel it yourself. If you delete the account without cancelling, Apple keeps charging: while it does, Plus keeps covering those children for the other parents linked to them; if none remain, you can request a refund from Apple. In both cases your children stay covered until the end of the paid period.
4. Classes are shared
- A class is used by several families. Whoever creates it manages it, accepts other parents and can give them permissions. Whoever has the class invitation code joins without waiting for approval: share it only with parents of the class.
- What you publish for the class (timetable, calendar, events, assessments for the whole class) is seen by all its members. Your child's grades and photos are only yours, the other parent linked to your child's and your child's, if you opened their student account.
- Assessments you create as "Only my family" are also seen by the other parents of your children in that class and, if they have a student account, those children: write them with that in mind.
- If you enter someone else's data (for example, a teacher's name), you must have their permission.
- Only whoever manages the class creates class lists (collections and lists of things to bring).
Whoever creates a collection is the one who receives the money and is accountable to the class for it. Widuf only records what each family marks: it does not receive, hold or transfer the money of collections, does not verify payments and is not responsible for what is collected or spent. Collections are voluntary: Widuf does not make them mandatory or collect them. Attaching a receipt or a photo is always optional: nobody can require it to count your contribution. If you receive receipts or photos, use them only to reconcile the list: do not download, forward or show them to others.
- Syllabus. Any approved parent in the class can upload the syllabus of an assessment they see, as text or photos. It is seen by whoever sees that assessment (in a "Whole class" one, all the class's parents). Before uploading a photo, cover or crop names, grades and children's data: the app asks you to and lets you crop. Upload it only so the class can study, and do not take it out of the class. It can be reported, it is deleted by whoever uploaded it or whoever manages the class, it does not go to the AI, and it is deleted at the end of the school year. The syllabus is entered by parents: it does not come from the school.
- Reading list. The class's parents can enter the list of readings (title, author and date), never the books or their pages. "Where to get it" shows libraries and free options first; no place pays to appear and Widuf receives no commission. The list is entered by parents: it does not come from the school.
4 bis. Your child's account (Chile only)
The student account exists only in classes in Chile. It is not available in other countries for now.
- From 5th grade (5° básico) and age 10 you can invite your child to their student account. You can only invite a child you are linked to in Widuf; managing the class does not let you invite other people's children.
- You are responsible for what you declare when inviting them (that you are their parent, legal representative or have legal custody, and their month and year of birth) being true, and for guiding their use according to their age.
- Your child only views: they do not write, invite, or see money, class members or other families. If you let them upload photos of their tests or request study guides, your AI permissions apply and it is deducted from the plan that covers your child or, if none, from your account's gift analyses.
- You can see what your child sees, change their permissions and remove their access whenever you want. If your child has another parent in Widuf, both have the same rights: the last action counts and the other gets a notice.
- From age 14 your child accepts their own Student Terms. The account ends on its own in the cases explained in the Privacy Policy (section 11).
- If you manage the class and mark a "Who brings what?" list as visible to students, the class's students will see it: write with them in mind. Collections are never shown to students.
5. What you may not do
- Upload test photos or data of children who are not your children or in your care.
- Post offensive, discriminatory or false content, or content that exposes a child, a parent or a teacher.
- Join a class you do not belong to or impersonate someone else.
- Try to access other people's data, overload the service or use it in an automated way.
- Use Widuf to send advertising or sell things to other parents.
- Use a list to pressure, expose or shame a family or a child, for example by publishing who has not contributed.
- Create lists about a child's behaviour, health or grades.
- Write health data, another person's bank details or links in a list.
- Upload books or pages of books, or a syllabus with names, grades or children's data without covering them.
- Upload someone else's receipts without their permission, or photos showing people, especially children.
- Require a family to provide a receipt or a photo, or use them to expose it.
- Use the title or text of a list, assessment or event to give your phone, email or social media to students, or to contact them.
- Use your child's student account to view or show something to another person, or invite a child who is not your child or in your care.
- Use Widuf from a place subject to comprehensive sanctions or give a false country.
If you see something wrong, report it from the app (on the assessment, member, list or photo) or write to us at soporte@widuf.com. If someone breaks these rules we may delete the content and, if it is serious or repeated, suspend or close their account, telling them why.
6. AI is an aid, not the official grade
When you upload a photo of a test, timetable or calendar, an AI (OpenAI) reads it to organise the timetable, find test dates or suggest the grade, on the grading scale of the class's country, and a short analysis. Before the first photo we ask for your permission. The AI can make mistakes: check what it suggests and correct it if needed. The official grade is the one the school gives. Receipts and list photos are never sent to the AI. Study guides, if you authorise them, are study material: the AI receives the subject, level and topics, never your child's name or photos. Widuf does not make educational, psychological or medical diagnoses, does not compare your child with classmates or their class, and does not promise that study guides or a plan will improve their grades.
7. Your content
What you upload remains yours. You only give us permission to store, process and show it within Widuf to whoever it concerns, while needed to provide the service. We do not use it for advertising or to train AI models.
The Widuf name, logo, design and app code belong to [COMPANY NAME].
8. Availability and changes to the service
We do our best for Widuf to work at all times and without errors, but there may be outages for maintenance or failures. We may improve, change or stop offering features; if we stop offering the whole service, or stop offering it in your country, we tell you at least 30 days in advance so you can request a copy of your data.
Phone notices are informative: they may arrive late or not at all, because they depend on Apple, Google and your phone settings. What the app shows is what counts. Each type of notice can be turned off in Profile → Notifications. Assessment reminders come on; "Widuf gifts and news" comes off, only reaches you if you turn it on, and is never needed to receive a gift.
9. Liability
We are liable for damage we cause by not complying with these terms or the law, as set by the applicable law. We are not liable for information other parents enter in a class, for the money of collections, or for decisions made only on the basis of an AI-estimated grade without reviewing it. Nothing in these terms limits the rights given to you by the consumer protection law of your country (in Chile, Law No. 19,496).
10. Changes to these terms
Each version has a number and date, in Spanish and English. If we change something important, we tell you in the app in advance and, if needed, ask you to accept them again. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
11. Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by the laws of Chile, without depriving you of the protections that the consumer law of the country where you live gives you when they cannot be waived. Before any complaint, write to us in Spanish or English at soporte@widuf.com: we reply within 10 business days at most. If you live in Chile, you can always go to the National Consumer Service (SERNAC) or the local police court (juzgado de policía local) for your address. If you live in another country, you can go to the consumer protection authority of your country and to the courts of your place of residence when your law allows it.
