Widuf Privacy Policy

Version 3.2 · effective from [EFFECTIVE DATE]

Widuf is an app for parents and guardians: it brings together your child's class timetable, tests, grades and class lists in one place. In classes in Chile, from 5th grade (5° básico), if you invite them, your child can have their own student account, a limited view that you control (section 11). To do all this we need to process data about you and your children, who are minors. Here we explain which data, what for, who sees it, how long we keep it and how you control it.

This policy is available in Spanish and English. Both versions have the same value; if they differ, the one more favourable to you applies.

If you are a student, read the part "If you are a student" in section 11 first: it is written for you.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Widuf is offered from Chile to parents in several countries. We apply Chilean data protection law (Law No. 19,628 as amended by Law No. 21,719) and also the data protection law of the country where you live: if they require different things, we follow the one that is stricter in your favour.

Your child's student account (only in classes in Chile), if you invite them: their first name (the one you already entered), month and year of birth, their sessions on up to two phones and, only if you allow it, the token to notify them and the photos of their tests. Details in section 11.

What we do not ask for: your children's national identification number (such as Chile's RUT), their full date of birth (for the student account, only month and year), your address, your location, health data or your phone contacts. Your child does not give us an email, password, phone number or photo.

3. What we use it for

  1. To provide the service: create your account, join a class, show you your children's timetable, tests and grades. Your country is used to apply the law that applies to you (minimum age, rights and the authority you can complain to), the grading scale and your classes' school year.
  2. To read the photos you upload. An AI reads the timetable or calendar photo to organise blocks and dates, and a test photo to suggest the grade and a short analysis. You review it and can correct the grade. It is an aid: it is not the official grade, it does not replace what the school says, and no decision about your child is made with it. If a test's analysis has to wait (because it is queued or until you have an analysis), the photo stays only on our server and is sent to the AI only when it is analysed; if queued, by the next day at the latest. Waiting does not extend how long we keep the photo (section 9). If you withdraw your AI permission, delete the test or delete your account first, it is not sent.
  1. To notify you of class changes and remind you of upcoming assessments and readings, if you turn on notifications.
  2. To coordinate the class: so parents can organise collections and lists of things to bring without message chains, and share an assessment's syllabus and the reading list.
  1. To improve the app and detect errors, with usage data on our servers.
  2. Security and sustainability: prevent abuse, apply the AI analyses of your plan and your gifts, usage limits and cost limits, and protect accounts.
  3. To reply to you when you write to us and to review reports.
  4. To keep each child's photo folder during the school year and, if a plan covers the child and you ask with "Keep the folder", for longer; and to warn you before each automatic deletion.
  1. To apply plans to the children they cover, without showing other parents who paid.

If you subscribe to Widuf Plus: to verify with Apple or Google, through RevenueCat, each purchase, renewal, change, cancellation and refund to turn Plus on or off for the children it covers, send you a copy of the terms you accepted, handle your complaints and meet tax obligations.

  1. To give your child their student account (only in Chile), if you invite them: show them their timetable, assessments and grades and, if you authorise it, generate AI study guides.
  1. To give you Widuf gifts (AI analyses), with published conditions, and tell you about them in the inbox and, only if you turned it on, with "Widuf gifts and news".

Widuf gifts and rewards. To choose who gets a gift we only use data from your account: your country, your classes and schools (with their grade level), whether you have Widuf Plus, how long you have had your account and what you do in the app, counted from what is stored in the service (for example, that you uploaded the calendar or a syllabus, that a family you invited with the share link joined, or how many months in a row you used Widuf), not from the usage data in section 2. We never use your children's grades, photos, analyses, age or any of their data, or whether they have a student account, and we never reward grades. Monthly rewards are given automatically to whoever meets rules we publish in Profile → AI analyses, with their dates, the same for everyone; a Widuf gift is given equally to every account in a group (a country, a school, a class). They only decide whether you receive AI analyses as a gift: they take nothing away and do not change the price, your allowances or the service. In our team we only see how many accounts receive a gift, never which ones. You can object in Profile → "Widuf gifts and rewards": from then on you are left out of group gifts and rewards, without losing what you already received or anything of the service. Student accounts never receive gifts, rewards or inbox messages.

We do not sell your data or your children's data. There are no third-party ads in the app and we do not build profiles for third parties. We do not use your data or your children's data to train AI models.

4. Legal basis

If the law of your country requires a different basis for any of these, we apply the one it requires; if we cannot meet it, Widuf is not offered in your country (section 14).

You can withdraw your consents at any time (section 8). That does not affect what was done before, but without the AI consent we stop sending photos to the AI.

5. Who sees your data

6. Who we share it with

Only with providers we need to operate, who process the data on our behalf, under contract, and cannot use it for anything else:

ProviderWhat forWhat it receivesWhere
OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.)Reading photos of tests, timetables and calendars; generating study guides, if you authorise themThe photos and the subject names; for guides, only the subject, level and topics to reinforce. We do not send your name, your email or your child's name (although they may appear written in the photo). We never send receipts or list photosUnited States
[HOSTING PROVIDER]Server and database where everything is storedAll app data[SERVER COUNTRY]
AppleSign in with Apple, if you use it, and delivering notifications on iPhone (Apple Push Notification service)What is needed to identify you; your phone's token and the text of each noticeUnited States
Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging and Cloud Pub/Sub)Delivering notifications on Android; if you subscribe to Widuf Plus on Android, forwarding Google Play notices about your subscriptionYour phone's token and the text of each notice; the purchase code and notice type, without your name or emailUnited States
RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.)If you subscribe to Widuf Plus: verifying and recording each purchase and renewal with Apple or GoogleYour family's internal code (which does not say who you are), what Apple or Google report about each purchase (product, dates, price, currency and store country) and technical connection data (IP address, language). Never your name, email, sign-up country or anything about your children, classes or schoolsUnited States
[EMAIL PROVIDER]Sending you account emails (for example, password recovery)Your email and the message content[EMAIL PROVIDER COUNTRY]

RevenueCat in turn uses other providers in the United States (sub-processors), under its data processing agreement, which requires it to process the data only on our instructions.

Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play), if you subscribe to Widuf Plus, charge the subscription on our behalf. They are not our processors for the charge: they process the data you give them to pay (your Apple ID or Google account, your payment method, your country) as controllers, under their own privacy policies (Apple and Google). We only pass them, through the app, the product you choose and an internal code for your family that does not say who you are, to know which Widuf account the purchase belongs to. We never send them your name, your email or your children's names, classes or schools. They tell us about each purchase as described in section 2, never your card or account details. We do not send them data about how you use the app to decide refunds.

Under OpenAI's API terms, it does not use what we send to train its models and keeps it for up to 30 days to detect abuse, unless the law requires it to keep it longer.

We would only hand data to an authority if a law or a court requires us to.

7. International transfers

Your data is stored in [SERVER COUNTRY] and, through the providers in section 6, travels to the United States. The United States has no general federal personal data protection law like Chile's; that is why we require each provider to sign a data processing agreement that obliges it to use the data only for what we ask and to protect it.

If the law of your country requires another safeguard to transfer your data abroad and we do not have it, Widuf is not offered in your country until we do (section 14).

Receipts and list photos are not processed with AI.

8. Your rights and how to exercise them

You can, free of charge:

Write to us in Spanish or English at soporte@widuf.com from your account email, saying what you need. We confirm we received it and reply within 10 business days, or sooner if the law of your country requires it. For blocking, we reply within 2 business days. We may ask you for something to confirm it is you.

If your child is 14 or older and has a student account, they can ask us themselves for a copy of their data or its erasure, by writing to the same email.

If we do not reply or you disagree with the reply, you can complain to the data protection authority of your country (in Chile, the Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales, from 1 December 2026) or to the competent courts.

9. How long we keep data

10. How we protect data

11. Children and teenagers

The parent account is for adults: to create one you must be of legal age under the law of your country, at least 18 years old, and be the parent, legal guardian or have custody of the child whose data you enter. We always process children's data with their best interests in mind: the minimum for you to follow their school year and coordinate with the class, never for advertising. Only upload photos of your own children's tests, and do not upload photos of what you bring that show children.

Student account (only in classes in Chile). Outside Chile it does not exist for now: we will open it in another country only after reviewing its law.

From 5th grade (5° básico) and age 10, you can invite your child to their own account. Before that age it does not exist. Only you, or the other parent linked to your child in Widuf, can open it, with a single-use code or QR that you generate in your app and that expires in 30 minutes. When you invite them you tell us that you are their parent, legal representative or have legal custody and their month and year of birth, and you authorise it: that is the consent Chilean law requires for children under 14, and we store it on our server with the date and the version of this text.

What data. Their account has no email, password, phone number or photo. We process their first name (the one you already entered), month and year of birth, their sessions on up to two phones and, only if you allow it, the token to notify them of changes and the photos of their tests. We do not keep usage data linked to their identity.

What they see and what not. Your child sees their timetable, the class assessment calendar, class events, their family's "Only my family" assessments, their own assessments, grades and analyses (the AI-estimated grade, only after you confirm it), their guides and the "Who brings what?" lists that whoever manages the class marked as visible, without other families' names. Titles and texts written by other adults pass through a filter: they cannot include phone numbers, emails, social media or links, and if they do not pass, your child does not see them. They never see anything about money, list photos, class members, other families or shops. Your child does not write texts; only if you turn it on can they upload photos of their tests (with your AI permission) and add upcoming assessments. Nobody in the class can write to them and nobody knows whether they have an account.

No ads or profiles. In their account there are no ads, purchases, prices or offers, and their data is not used for profiles, rankings or comparisons with classmates. AI study guides are generated only if you authorise them: the AI receives the subject, level and topics to reinforce, never their name or photos, and nobody decides anything about your child with them. What your child uses with AI is deducted from the plan that covers them or, if none, from the gift analyses of the parent who invited them, never from an allowance of their own; your child is never shown the plan.

Their account does not receive reminders, gifts, rewards or inbox messages, and your child's data is never used to choose who gets a gift.

You decide. You can see what your child sees, change their permissions, close their sessions on each phone and remove their access whenever you want, effective immediately. If your child has two parents in Widuf, both have the same rights: the last action counts and the other gets a notice. Your child can close their account from the app (we tell you) and, from age 14, ask us themselves for a copy of their data or its erasure.

When it ends. The account ends on its own if you delete your account, leave the class or unlink from your child (unless the other parent confirms it within 30 days), when the school year ends (unless you renew it) or when your child turns 18 without accepting the terms themselves. When it ends, their access and tokens are deleted; the grades stay in your account. We keep your authorisation and its changes as evidence for up to 4 years after the account ends, without grades or photos.

If a breach affects children's data, we notify you as their representative.

If you are a student. This part is for you.

12. Cookies

The app does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Widuf's legal pages do not use cookies or load third-party services.

13. Changes to this policy

Each version has a number and date, in Spanish and English, and we keep which version and in which language you accepted it. If we change something important, we tell you in the app before it takes effect and, if needed, ask for your consent again.

14. Countries and legal framework

Widuf is offered only in some countries: those you can choose when signing up. It is not offered where our model conflicts with the law (for example, where the AI service we use does not operate, where international sanctions reach our providers, or where the law requires data to be stored inside the country) nor, until we meet what their law requires, in other countries where we still have pending requirements. You may not use Widuf from a place subject to comprehensive sanctions.

This policy is governed by Chile's Law No. 19,628 on the protection of private life and, from 1 December 2026, by that same law as amended by Law No. 21,719 on personal data protection, and it also respects the data protection law of the country where you live.
